Leadership Alexandria

Program Overview

Perhaps at no time in our history has local leadership been more important to our future.  Local leaders need wider perspectives and deeper understanding of existing and emerging community issues, as well as tools for strengthening their own leadership abilities so they can effectively engage with the local, national and international challenges that impact daily life in Alexandria.

The Chamber ALX has partnered with Leadership Center for Excellence to bring Leadership Alexandria, a dynamic nine month civic-based leadership development program to new and established leaders in Alexandria. Participants will have the opportunity to hear from and speak candidly with the elected officials, public and private sector heads, change makers and innovators who make Alexandria run, as well as experience a leadership development program which delivers new insights for personal and professional growth. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to develop lasting friendships with their classmates.

Participants will explore topics including:

  • Local and state government
  • Economic development
  • Arts and culture
  • Health and human services
  • Public safety and justice
  • Education and workforce development
  • Environmental sustainability
  • Inclusive leadership and regionalism
